Salut Comrades, I am writing to introduce YOURS: Youth For Road Safety and our World Crossing Campaign Initiative..Its might be an interest to you, other youngsters in your country or networks...Let the World hear about this:http://www.youthforroadsafety.org/activities/world_crossing_campaign For more Information about YOURS visit:www.youthforroadsafety.org Meanwhile, just a quick refresher on YOURS, The World Youth Assembly for Road Safety, which was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and theUnited Nations Economic Commission for Europe(UNECE) on 23 and 24April 2007, provided a unique opportunity for young people all over the world to start collaborating on globalroad safety issues. More than 400 young delegates from over 100 countries discussed ways in which domestic initiatives can garner interest and support and adopted the Youth Declaration for Road Safety. At the Assembly the youth delegates were inspired, empowered and encouraged to serve as ambassadors at home and abroad by advocating road safety in their countries, regions and the global community at large. Thus, since 2007 we were doing everything possible to make sure every bit of the 2007 recommendations and resolutions from the Youth Assembly are fully implemented to the latter.. Therefore, one of the recommendation from the delegates was to create a Global Youth NGO(YOURS) on road safety to synergise efforts and keep the world young people save on the world roads
In February 2009, WHO established a Youth Taskforce comprising of strong Youth Leaders in the field of road safety to represent the rest of the world as a direct recommendations of the 2007 World Youth Assembly, This taskforce and YOURS is headed by Mr Floor Lieshout, The Chief Executive Officer with other seven Young People around the World, I served as the Representative for the African Continent on this taskforce
